Torsella Enters 2020 With $1M Cash on Hand

Treasurer Joe Torsella’s campaign announced his end of the year totals as the incumbent’s enters a reelection year.

According to a release from the Democratic incumbent’s campaign, Torsella enters 2020 with $1.04 million cash on hand. His campaign raised over $750,000 in 2019.

“I’m overwhelmed and grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received to run for re-election as Pennsylvania’s Treasurer,” Torsella said in a release. “We have made great progress restoring integrity to Treasury, fighting for taxpayers and against Wall Street, and bringing financial opportunity to more Pennsylvanians, but the future we’re building for Pennsylvania is not finished.”

A list of issues that Torsella added that he believes need to be addressed are opportunities for working and middle class families, the price of higher education, retirement, and more.

“I expect to make a formal announcement in the coming weeks, but my life has been dedicated to public service, and there is still work to be done and solutions to be found,” he said at the end of the release.

Torsella bested Republican Otto Voit by 6 points in the 2016 election for the seat.

Currently, no Republicans have formally announced a bid for Treasurer.

  1. Time to make the PNC Bank CEO, William Demshak, to run against Torsella. I think we need someone who makes much more financial sense than Joe Torsella.

  2. He should be re-elected just because he does not seem like the type to be indicted and convicted, which used to be a prerequisite for the office.

  3. “…my life’s been dedicated to public service…” translation: I’ve been sucking on the public teat all my life.

Actually, he’s not bad as far as “public servants” go. Better than anybody GOP would run.
