Trump Covers Lots of Bases in York Address

Donald Trump speaks in York

Former President Donald Trump spoke for 52 minutes on Monday at Precision Components Group in York, hoping to steal a little limelight at the start of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

The address was promoted as a policy speech where the 45th president would lay out his agenda to unleash American energy and lower costs for American families. It became a vehicle for Trump to cover a lot of bases, rehashing his four years in the White House and making many promises for what he will do should he return in January.

The former president mostly stayed on message, reading from his teleprompter for the key messages. But he chose to stray occasionally, launching a few salvos at his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, and her involvement with the Biden Administration.

He earned some chuckles and applause from the nearly 250 partisans gathered at the York plant, tossing around nicknames such as ‘Comrade Kamala’ and “Crooked Joe.’

“I’m here today to deliver a simple message,” he said. “When I’m back in the White House, America’s future will be built right here in Pennsylvania. It will be built by American workers like you, all over the country, but Pennsylvania is always a big factor.

“Our plan will massively cut taxes, unlock American energy, slash regulations, big factor, crack down on trade cheaters and stop outsourcing, rebuild our industrial base and bring back those beautiful words – Made in the USA.”

He went after Harris, stating that the vice president has misguided priorities.

“Kamala puts America last. I put America first,” Trump said. “I kept every single promise I made to the workers of Pennsylvania to every other place within our country.

“When I left office, I handed Kamala and crooked Joe Biden, a surging economy with no inflation. You had no inflation. You had everything. Great wages, no inflation. Now you have inflation at levels that I don’t believe anyone’s ever seen before. The 30-year mortgage rate was 2.6% but it was actually closer to 1.9 if you look at it the way that most people look at it. And gasoline had reached and was basically at levels of $1.87 a gallon, but we had months and moments where it was even less than that. Wouldn’t that be nice?”

“Very simply, Kamala Harris is an economy wrecker and a country destroyer. Our country will be destroyed if she gets in. Seventy-eight days from now, Pennsylvania is going to tell her that we’ve had enough … that we can’t take it anymore … ‘Comrade’ Kamala, you’re fired.”

Trump even took a moment to take a swing at his favorite punching bag – the media.

“Our country is doing really badly under (Biden-Harris), and nobody wants to talk about it. The media doesn’t like talking about it, because the Democrats, they really protect themselves. It’s pretty amazing. Someday the media is going to become real media instead of fake media.

“We’ve had great success politically and otherwise here in Pennsylvania and we expect to have it again.”

A pair of Pennsylvania congressmen – Reps. Scott Perry (R-10) and Glenn ‘G.T.’ Thompson (R-15) – were in attendance along with a number of York County elected officials.

“November 5 will be the most important day in the history of our nation,” Trump concluded with, urging the gathered fans to vote early, if they can, or on Election Day.

  1. Kick off the Democratic convention with Hillary, both Bidens, Austin Davis and other, and you give Trump top billing, without fact checking his nonsense? Before a crowd of 250?

    1. Umm … the title of this is PENNSYLVANIA politics and Trump spoke in PENNSYLVANIA whereas the Democrats are in Illinois.

      1. Last time I checked, Austin Davis was the Lt. Governor of PENNSYLVANIA and spoke to a huge audience, not a couple of folks who were totally bored.

  2. Trump has dementia and probably would be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s if he had an actual exam.
