Robert Powelson, a Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) member from Chester county, will be nominated by President Donald Trump to serve on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Powelson was first named to the PUC in 2008 by Governor Ed Rendell and appointed chair by Governor Tom Corbett in 2014. Powelson is also the President of National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.
During his tenure, the PUC has been friendly to pipeline development which aligns with Trump’s positions.
Trump also announced that Neil Chatterjee an energy advisor to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will also be nominated to FERC.
