Trump To Participate in Fox News Town Hall in Scranton

President Donald Trump will be making his first appearance in the keystone state in 2020 this week.

On Thursday night, Trump will head to Scranton to participate in a town hall hosted by Fox News Channel’s Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. The town hall, which will take place at the Scranton Cultural Center, is Trump’s first town hall of the 2020 election cycle.

“We are pleased to host incumbent President Donald Trump for his first town hall of the 2020 election cycle,”  Jay Wallace, president and executive editor of FOX News Media, said in a release. “As Americans continue deliberating their choice for president, FOX News Channel is proud to provide a platform for candidates across the political spectrum to inform the public on their stances.”

Trump’s most recent visit to the state was in December, when he held a rally in Hershey and touted the passing of the USMCA trade and blasted Democrats over impeachment. While this will be Trump’s first visit to the state in the election year, Vice President Mike Pence headlined a Women for Trump event in Camp Hill last month, alongside Education Sec. Betsy DeVos.

Two recent polls show mixed results for Trump’s reelection effort to keep Pennsylvania red in 2020.

A Quinnipiac University poll released two weeks ago showed Trump trailing all of the Democratic presidential frontrunners with the largest deficit being Biden by 8 points, followed by Klobuchar by 7 points, then Bloomberg by 6 points, Sanders and Buttigieg by 4 points, and Warren by 3 points. However, a Morning Call/Muhlenberg College poll released last week showed Trump neck and neck with the Democratic frontrunners, only trailing Sanders by 3 points, tied with Biden and Warren, leading Buttigieg and Klobuchar by 1 point, and in front of Bloomberg by 3 points, although all results were within the margin of error. The Morning Call/Muhlenberg College poll also broke down Trump’s support in each region of the state, showing his worst numbers in Philadelphia and strongest numbers in Northeast Pennsylvania, where this town hall will take place.

The last Democratic presidential hopeful to make a trip to Northeast Pennsylvania was former Vice President Joe Biden, a Scranton native, who delivered an economic policy address in October at the Scranton Cultural Center.

This is the second town hall hosted by Fox News taking place in Pennsylvania during this election cycle. Sen. Bernie Sanders made a swing through Northeast Pennsylvania in April, which included the Fox News town hall in Bethlehem.

  1. Rumors Uncle pat cut deal to keep Cartwright in office. He even got Eachus to come back from The dead to run against Toohil to box her in for primary so she can’t endorse in the Congressional Race and mess up his master plan to get the weakest R to win. NEPA politics never change.

    1. This is the problem – he’s a performance artist – NOT A LEADER. At some point everyone is going to realize they were part of a failed TV show starring a 2 bit huckster.

  2. Trump gets softballs gently tossed that he belts out of the auditorium for a home run. He feels refreshed. it’s his version of meditating.
