Vote Schwank for Jobs – Enough GOP Mud

The latest installment in PoliticsPA’s Com Director’s Corner

By Mark Nicastre, PA Democrats Communications Director

With a little over a week remaining until the election, Judy is in a strong position to retain Senate District 11 for the Democrats. Judy is a stellar candidate who has experience creating jobs and working with community leaders. Her background and her strong grassroots campaign has allowed her to maintain a healthy lead in the polls – even in the face of harsh attacks from Harrisburg Republicans.

Judy is a strong candidate. She has experience creating jobs and working with community leaders. Her background and her strong grassroots campaign has allowed her to maintain a healthy lead in the polls – even in the face of harsh attacks from Harrisburg Republicans.

It’s no surprise she has remained strong throughout the race.

The economy is everyone’s number one concern, and Judy knows how to create jobs. As a Berks County Commissioner, she helped create or retain over 6,000 jobs, and she has a jobs plan that will help get people back to work and revive the local economy. And she can get it done. Judy has experience working with small businesses and local leaders to solve the big problems facing the community.

In contrast, her opponent has embraced an agenda that is an all out attack on the middle class of Berks County.

Throughout the campaign, Larry Medaglia has shown how grossly out of touch he is with working families in Berks County. His tax plan could increase taxes on groceries, gas and just about anything families buy. Medaglia’s tax will take money right out of the pockets of Berks County families at a time when they can least afford it.

If that wasn’t bad enough. Larry wants to let corporate special interests off the hook. He refuses to support simple policies that will make sure gas drillers pay for the damage they cause to yards, streets and farmland in Berks County.

It’s simple – Larry Medaglia puts corporate special interests ahead of the middle class.

But Harrisburg Republicans are doing their best to prop him up with tired negative campaign tactics and a message that has no traction.

Just yesterday, Tom Corbett skipped out of Harrisburg – despite an upcoming budget release and his recent failure to save adultBasic – to raise money for Larry Medaglia.

When it came time to talk to reporters, Corbett couldn’t defend the policies he and Medaglia support so he closed the doors and refused to let press into the event.

But for all the efforts by Harrisburg Republicans and all the time and money spent, their candidate is still unknown to the district.

No matter how much the Harrisburg Republicans throw at this race, the bottom line is this: Judy Schwank is on the side of the middle class and she will tirelessly fight for the people of Berks County – just as she has for her entire career – while Larry Medaglia will bow to corporate special interests, attack the middle class and become part of the closed door culture in Harrisburg.

  1. Always amusing when a party flack like DiCastre launches a partisan attack on a candidate and then turns around to accuse the same candidate is running a “dirty” campaign! As an outside observer, I’d say Medaglia has run a solid campaign with his Spanish language commercials and focus on Schwank’s votes to raise property taxes by 52%.
