VoteVets Launches $350k TV in PA-18 Election

VoteVets is launching a new TV ad that will run through March 13th, the day of the special election, in support of Democratic candidate Conor Lamb.

“Look closely… There’s a million reasons to oppose politician Rick Saccone. In Harrisburg, Saccone gave himself four hundred thousand dollars in perks, on top of nearly six hundred thousand in pay…all at taxpayer expense. We can’t afford Saccone in Congress,” the ad’s voiceover says.

“After serving in the Marines, Conor Lamb prosecuted heroin dealers and violent criminals back home. Veterans know to fix Washington, send in the Marine.”

The 30-second ad will run on TV in the district is highlighting a report that said Saccone tapped into his legislative expense account to pay for meals, per diems, and other items totaling $435,172.

VoteVets is a PAC that uses “public issue campaigns and direct outreach to lawmakers to ensure that troops abroad have what they need to complete their missions, and receive the care they deserve when they get home” according to their release.

VoteVets is a non-partisan group, but admits to being the “largest progressive organization of veterans in America” that has pushed lawmakers to support progressive causes including the American Clean Energy and Security Act, a draft version of cap and trade according to Politico.

  1. I just saw that ad today. I’m in Westmoreland county close to the border of Allegheny county. I think it it is a really strong ad. It reaffirms the greed of this (R) party.

I will admit it seemed the Republican started out strong here in the 18th, but in the last week or so it seems Lamb is coming on strong. The light blue Conner Lamb signs are popping up everywhere.

I have done my part, trying to vote Tim Murphy out for years, and I never thought it would go to the Democrat. However, I’m beginning to think Lamb wins this by 2 or 3 points.

Another strange thing is, I’m not hearing the local Repubs talking up their guy very much…

    We’ll see in a week!

  2. The NRCC alone is up to about $3.5 million in spending in a district Trump won by 20 points. Let that sink in for a moment.

  3. Vote Vets is a liberal PAC for younger OEF and IEF veterans. They do not nor have supported Republican veterans. They like to make you think they support all veteran candidates, but in reality, they just support the lefty ones.

I still think Saccone squeaks this out. Ton of money for an 8 month Congressional seat.
