The Pa. Republican Party announced that State Senator Scott Wagner (R-York) will be the keynote speaker at its Lincoln Day Dinner on Friday, February 3rd.
Wagner launched his campaign for Governor in January, the first Republican candidate to officially announce.
“The proceeds of this year’s dinner will go directly toward supporting President Trump’s agenda, defeating liberal politicians like Tom Wolf and winning this year’s crucial statewide judicial elections,” wrote party Chairman Rob Gleason.
Allegheny County businessman Paul Mango is considering throwing his hat into the ring. Several other candidates are rumored to be eying the primary – including former Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley, Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman (R-Centre), House Majority Leader Dave Reed (R-Indiana), and Congressman Mike Kelly (R-Butler).
The speaking slot plays to Wagner’s strategy: deter other prospective candidates by locking in support early from party activists and regulars.
Next weekend’s state committee meeting will also feature an election choose Gleason’s successor. The dinner will be held at the Hershey Lodge. Follow PoliticsPA for an event preview and coverage during the event.

If I watch kiddie pron in my spare time that is only my business.
I object to people discussing my private life.
Running mate might be the wrong ter. How about bedmate?
you would think that the PA GOP would be able to attract a real keynote speaker for this event, and not settle for Scott Wagner.
The McGarrigle rumor is interesting…running-mate may not be the correct way to phrase it…preferred candidate for sure..surely a deal has been cut for that since to get the endorsement for Governor Wagner will require SEPA votes, and while DELCO GOP got clobbered in Presidential and US Senate races, as Delaware County delivered very healthy majorities for Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Katie McGinty, and its dwindling registration numbers (GOP trails Deoncratic Party in overall county registration by ~3%), the DELCO GOP continues to wields some influence in that caucus…to that end McGarrigle makes sense. Doubtful Meehan runs for US Senate, yielding a safe GOP seat in the Congress for a likely loss to Senator Casey makes little sense.
Pennsylvania elects the Lt. Gov. separately; Wagner doesn’t choose a “running mate”
Well, word in DELCO is his running mate is going to be Sen. Tom McGarrigle. Now that’s going to make it very interesting for Delco. Meehan for US Senate/ McGarrigle Lt. Governor . 2018 going to be exciting in DELCO.
He must explain why he contributed to LaRouche/Kerry/Dean.
