Wecht Launches First TV Ads (VIDEOS)

David Wecht is joining his fellow Democratic nominee Kevin Dougherty on the airwaves.

The State Supreme Court hopeful and Superior Court Judge introduced his first television spots today.

“Our message highlights David’s background, along with his accomplished judicial record and exemplary character,” said campaign manager Mitch Kates. “We think these spots help give voters a good look at David, and provide them with vital information that they need to make a well-informed choice on Tuesday, November 3.”

“The ads also underscore that David is the only candidate with any concrete plans to reform Pennsylvania’s courts, and the only candidate who is both ‘Highly Recommended’ by the Pennsylvania Bar Association and endorsed by our statewide Fraternal Order of Police,” Kates continued.

The two commercials highlight Wecht’s experience and emphasizes his central campaign message.

“I’ll make sure everyone plays by the rules because protecting families is my priority,” Wecht concludes.

The only difference between the two videos is that one explicitly identifies the candidate’s father, Dr. Cyril Wecht. The elder Wecht has held numerous political offices in Allegheny County and it wouldn’t be surprising if that ad is for the Pittsburgh market.

Wecht is competing for one of the three open seats on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court this November.

  1. Judge Wecht wrote more opinions than anyone else on the Superior Court in 2014 — over 400. You can call him “methodical,” “fair-minded,” or “dedicated.” But “lazy” is the least accurate word to describe his professional or personal character. I think you should do your own homework, James.

  2. A good ad right until the end, where he blows it by sounding completely canned and phony. Nothing like spending $250,000 only to waste it with three seconds.

  3. The Republicans should look at his case backlog the past few years and bring that to light. He was the laziest person on the Superior Court. His decisions would take longer than anyone to come out. Why? Because he didn’t want to do the work. Then when he decided to run for Supreme Court, he some how found time to finally work. Do your homework people!!
