Wolf Plans for Spending Freeze

Pennsylvania could be facing major spending freezes in the near future unless the state House passes a revenue package to balance the budget.

According to State House Sound Bites, Governor Tom Wolf indicated that the state would be heading down that road.  Wolf said the stalemate could be resolved if the House passed the Senate’s revenue package.

“The easiest thing to do is just get back and finish the job. Everyone else has done this,” Wolf said.

Wolf said that spending freezes or borrowing from the state Treasury would be required by September 15th.  The House is currently scheduled to return to Harrisburg September 11th.

Wolf put pressure on the House in a radio interview on KDKA.

“I think there are a lot of adults in the room in Harrisburg, and some of the folks on the House Republican leadership ought to get their act together and finish the job,” Wolf said.

  1. The Republican legislature cannot ever agree on anything because of the House. These budget stalemates hurt our Commonwealth, state workers, and people who rely on services.

  2. Working for Government and serving your fellow citizens in the Civil Service is an honorable profession, yet fellow Americans continue to disparage those that keep government running. NO HIRING FREEZE!
