Wolf Sets Date for Special Election to Replace Murphy

Governor Tom Wolf announced the special election to replace former Congressman Tim Murphy (R-Allegheny) will be held on March 13th, 2018.

Murphy resigned amid a scandal that included him reportedly asking the woman he was having an extra-marital affair with to have an abortion during a pregnancy scare.  Reports also surfaced of mistreatment of staff in his office by both Murphy and his Chief of Staff.

Murphy resigned on the 21st, giving Wolf until the 31st to set the date.

Now, state Democrats and Republicans will begin their respective processes to pick their candidates for the seat.

Democrats Gina Cerilli, Mike Crossey, Pam Iovino, Conor Lamb, and Dr. Bob Solomon have all announced their intentions for the race.  Republican State Senators Guy Reschenthaler (R-Allegheny), Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland) and state Rep. Rick Saccone have announced for the race as well.

  1. Good thing Murphy is out. I was sickened to hear that such a Pro-Life Representative asked his MISTRESS to have an abortion! We really have to elect better candidate then just looking for the “Republican” next to a name on a ballot!

  2. I think for the Republicans should nominate Former Governor Tom Corbett is to be their Nominee and for Democrats should nominate Pam Snyder as their Nominee for the special election.

    1. For Former Governor Tom Corbett needs to announce his candidacy is to run for congress in Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District as soon as possible because for congress needs a leader like him is to serve in congress in 2018.
