York County House Members Congratulate Saylor on Election to New Leadership Position

HARRISBURG – Members of the York County delegation of the House Republican Caucus, Reps. Keith Gillespie (R-Hellam), Seth Grove (R-Dover), Ron Miller (R-Jacobus), Scott Perry (R-Dillsburg) and Will Tallman (R-Hanover), issued the following statement in reaction to fellow delegation member Rep. Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion) being elected to the position of majority whip:

“We congratulate Representative Saylor on his election to the position of Majority Whip. In this role, his primary responsibility will be to assist the other House floor leaders in mobilizing votes within the caucus, especially on critical issues.

“As a result of his promotion to majority whip, Stan now holds the highest-ranking position achieved by any York Countian in state government since George Leader served as the 36th governor of Pennsylvania from 1955 to 1959.

“Stan was a very effective Policy Committee chairman, recognizing a number of key legislative issues, forming corresponding task forces and organizing informative hearings designed to point out ways to better address the problems associated with them. We have no doubt he will be equally as effective, if not more effective, in his new position of leadership.”
