York County Republican Delegation Statement on Dedication of Highway to Korean War Veterans
HARRISBURG ― The York County Republican House delegation today issued the following statement on the passage of House Bill 2461 by Rep. Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion), designating State Route 462 from its intersection with U.S. Route 30 in West Manchester Township, York County, to the point where it meets State Route 24 in Springettsbury Township, York County, as the Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway:
“We are pleased the House has passed this bill designating State Route 462 as the Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway. Because it is often overshadowed by World War II and the Vietnam War, the Korean War is sometimes referred to as the ‘Forgotten War.’ However, by designating this highway in their honor, we are assuring area veterans of that conflict that their service is very much appreciated and will not be forgotten.
“The United States owes a debt of gratitude to these brave veterans and to all veterans who stood in her defense. It is our hope that those who see the signs along this highway honoring these veterans will pause to consider their great sacrifice in the name of freedom.”
Members of the York County House Republican delegations include: Saylor, Rep. Keith Gillespie (R-Hellam), Rep. Seth Grove (R-Dover), Rep. Ron Miller (R-Jacobus), Rep. Will Tallman (R-Hanover), Rep. Scott Perry (R-Dillsburg).
