10/28 Ups & Downs

Suburban Philly Endorsees. The Bucks and Montgomery Commissioner races are two of the biggest in the state, and it appears that only one or two news outlets will be making endorsements. The Intelligencer gave bipartisan recommendations to its readers: Democrats Det Ansinn and Diane Marseglia with Rob Loughery in Bucks; and Republicans Bruce Castor and Jenny Brown in Montco.
.
.

Bud George. The long-serving state Rep. and powerhouse in Clearfield County politics may face an early retirement thanks to redistricting. House Ds know his rural seat would be a lost cause for any other Democrat, and think George’s career is nearing an end anyway. They’re willing to speed that along in exchange for a sure bet new Latino-majority seat in Allentown.
.

Kathy Boockvar and David Wecht. Likewise, there have been few endorsements to date in the statewide court races. The Democratic nominees picked up the support of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette this week. And Wecht is on TV, too.
.
.

Private Schools. The Pa. Senate finally passed an amended SB1, meaning the state’s private and parochial schools could be in line for a boost. However, GOP leaders in the Pa. House have tread far more carefully on the issue and aren’t likely to make it a priority.
.
.

Occupy Pittsburgh. When a group of reporters (PoliticsPA included) approached the rally at Mitt Romney’s visit in the Steel City yesterday, several protesters mistook them for event attendees and proceeded to verbally harass them. Not exactly the solidarity of the 99 percent, eh?

  1. Edensburg Patriots … try posting your REAL name next time. To answer your question, NO! Gleason only recently appeared in Montco (last week). Bruce was Montco District Attorney for many years, prior to winning the 2007 Commissioners race (most votes received). Any other questions?
