10/30 Morning Buzz

PA-state-flag6Wolf leads Corbett by double digits in two separate polls, we delve into the State Senate races that will decide control of the chamber and Stephen Colbert has some fun at the Governor’s expense. Good morning politicos, here’s the Buzz!

The Five State Senate Races to Watch on Election Night: These contests will decide which party controls the upper chamber of the PA legislature.

PA-Gov: F&M Poll: Wolf 53 Corbett 40: The Democratic candidate holds a thirteen point lead in the final Franklin & Marshall poll before Election Day.

PA-Gov: Harper Poll: Wolf 50 Corbett 40: The latest Harper survey shows the Democratic nominee with a ten point advantage.

PAGov: Colbert Slams Corbett’s Photoshop Mishap; Addresses “Pet-Eating Bill”: Political satirist Stephen Colbert addressed the Corbett campaign’s recent Photoshop issue as well as the controversy surrounding a state bill that would have outlawed the consumption of cat and dog meat.

F&M Poll: President Obama’s Approval Rating Stands at 32%: The President’s numbers remain low on the eve of his campaign stop for Tom Wolf.

PA-Gov: Corbett Ad Calls Tom Wolf President Obama’s “Biggest Fan” (VIDEO): The Corbett-Cawley campaign is seeking to link Wolf with the President.

PA-6: Costello Closes Campaign with Positive Ad (VIDEO): The GOP nominee released his final commercial today which features his wife.

PA-5: Kerith Strano Taylor Releases “Zero Women” Ad (VIDEO): In her latest ad, the Democratic candidate is troubled by the lack of women in Congress.

Is There a Presidential Drag On Gubernatorial Elections?: Only five of the 20 presidents to serve since 1900 have seen their party win a majority of gubernatorial elections during their administrations, and only one since JFK.

Legislative Elections Update:

SD-32: Kari Andren of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review points out that about $1.8 million has been spent in this race between Democratic nominee Deb Kula and Republican nominee Pat Stefano.

“That’s a hefty amount of money for basically … a rural district,” Franklin & Marshall professor and political analyst Terry Madonna said. “It shows you how important this race is (to the parties) and how there are available dollars because of few other competitive races.”

HD-163: Delaware County GOP Chairman Andy Reilly filed a complaint this week, alleging that Democratic nominee Vincent Rongione did not live in the district for the mandatory one-year period before Election Day.

“We are here today because it appears that Mr. Rongione’s distortions, contortions and deceptions crossed a legal line,” Reilly said during a press conference outside of the Upper Darby home where Rongione registered to vote in October 2013. “We are standing here on Wilson Drive because this is the site of Rongione’s initial deception to the voters of the 163rd District.”

“Everyone knows that Vince grew up in Havertown and that he lives in Drexel Hill with his wife,” Rongione Campaign Manager Will Sharry responded. “There is no residency issue here.”

  1. PAINDY1 fails to understand the nature of the Gleason GOP. This is a skimming operation. It skims donors; government contracts; government jobs; and taxpayers to support the crony political class. Acting Governor Brabender is an important component of that grift operation. When Wolfe wins, instead of 60% of contracts, the GOP goes back to 40%. Harrisburg bipartisan cronies never change, only the split does. If only we had a third choice of reform and an end to self-dealing! Diogenes lamp has gone out.

  2. THIS COMMENT IS DIRECTED TO CORBETT/BRABENDER DONORS. WE HAVE SEEN 2 CORBETT ADS PRODUCED WITHIN 2 WEEKS, THE LATEST BEING WOLF LOVES THE NIGGA WELFARE QUEENS AND TOM CORBETT LOVE DA WHITE FOLK AD. WELL IS THIS A PATH TO VICTORY OR A PATH TO IMPROVE ACTING GOVERNOR BRABENDER’S NET WORTH? DOES APPLE CHANGE ADS ITS ADS IN A TWO WEEK PERIOD? THE CORBETT/BRABENDER CAMPAIGN IS 100% FRAUDULENT. THIS $30 MILLION FUNERAL WAS NEVER ABOUT VICTORY. http://youtu.be/Gqr3yzr64V4
