11/7 Morning Buzz

Good morning politicos, and welcome to the buzz. A hat tip this morning to the Harrisburg Patriot News, whose top-notch coverage of the Penn State sex scandal was among the top national stories this weekend.

Rohrer for Senate: Alex Roarty of the National Journal reports that the former Pa. Rep, and 2010 gubernatorial candidate has been hinting for months that he is on the verge of announcing his candidacy.

Redistricting Update: The AP takes a look at slow-to-develop congressional races, as would-be challengers bide their time until the maps come out.

Allegheny Exec: A poll by CivicScience of 1,307 Allegheny County voters suggests that 48 percent would vote for Fitzgerald and 30 percent would vote for Republican Raja.

Montco GOP Ad Buy: A source close to Republican Commissioner candidates Bruce Castor and Jenny Brown says the campaign made a surprise purchase of about $300,000 in air time for the duration of the campaign.

Ups & Downs: Find out who had a good week, who didn’t, and see who won at redistricting (spoiler alert: Republicans).

Vernon for Senate: John Vernon knows he has a steep climb to the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, but he suffers from no lack of energy. His campaign this week launched his first phase of his Jobs and Economic Plan, his “100 Businesses in 100 Days” tour.

Toomey Neutral: Sen. Pat Toomey is staying out of the intra-party struggle brewing in western Pennsylvania. The Senator’s office said that although he attended a fundraiser for Rep. Tim Murphy Thursday morning, he would not take sides in his upcoming primary.
