1/19 Morning Buzz

Governor Tom Corbett. We’re still getting used to that.

Yesterday was the big day. Make sure to check out PoliticPA’s extensive coverage of the Inauguration, the accompanying anti-Marcellus protest, and the Inaugural Ball.

In other news, Comcast won FCC approval for its merger with NBC Universal, making PA the media capital of the world. PA pols jocey to be more anti-China. Glenn Beck disses Philly (we’ll take Philly in a fight any day of the week) And the Tribune Review endorses Joe Sestak, sort of.

Good morning politicos, and welcome to the buzz.

PoliticsPA’s Inaugural Coverage

The Post-Gazette reported that Gov. Corbett and Lt. Gov. Cawley started their day by attending mass. It was a beautiful service – the Cawley family brought up the gifts.

Then, in the Senate Chamber Lt. Gov. Cawley was sworn in.

Despite the weather, the inauguration of the Governor was held outside much to the delight of Marcellus Shale Protestors. Here you can watch video of the protest led by Gas Truth. We also have reactions from other lawmakers about the protests.

Here is the text of the speech Gov. Corbett gave after taking the oath of office. His speech echoed themes of civility that emerged after the tragedy in Tuscon.

The Patriot-News did a feature on Corbett’s approach to the law as Attorney General and how that may affect the way he goes about the job of Governor.

Soon after being inaugurated, Gov. Corbett moved quickly to remove the e-traces of Gov. Rendell, according to Commonwealth Confidential.

The inauguration of Gov. Corbett left a vacancy at the Attorney General’s office which will be filled by William Ryan Jr. according to the Patriot-News.

At the inaugural ball, William Penn made an appearance. Could this be an attempt to pander to tea partiers?

  1. Extremely interesting blog post. Your post is really interesting. I enjoyed this blog post. This blog post is terrific! I have to say that after continually reading terrible as in, same old ideas, little quality content, etc. blog posts on other sites, it’s enjoyable to actually read something that has some thought put into it. It’s a pleasure to read well written blog posts, especially after continually seeing rehashed crap that writers and bloggers are putting out nowadays. It’s always nice when I come across content that actually has value, I’ve been seeing a ton of subpar writing attempts lately. Anyhow, thanks again and I’ll check back often to see what else you have to offer. I’ll check back in the future to see what else you have up your sleeve. Keep up the great work! BTW, I like your site design, but your header image was only loading half way for me. P.S. Your header is messed up a bit in IE. The problem could be on my end but I thought you might want to look into that.
