12/1 Morning Buzz

Good morning politicos, and welcome to the buzz. If the first part of the week was all about the U.S. Senate, yesterday was all about Pa. row offices. Two candidates announced, and a third scored a big endorsement.

Obama Pitches Tax Cuts in Scranton: The President advocated an extension of the payroll tax cut – something supported by most voters – during a speech in NEPA. The House later voted it down.

PSU Forum: Administrators and students at Penn State talked about the sex abuse scandal that has shaken the University during a town hall last night.

John Rafferty for Attorney General: State Senator Rafferty has the party support – and the built-in Republican advantage for the office – that make him a favorite in the 2012 race for Pa. Attorney General.

Duke for Auditor General: Chester County Treasurer Ann Duke officially entered the race for Auditor General today. She’s the sole announced GOP candidate so far.

Onorato Endorses DePasquale for Auditor: Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato, as recently as a few weeks ago thought to be a contender for the office of Pennsylvania Auditor General, has thrown his support behind Pa. Rep. Eugene DePasquale (D-York).

Corbett in Negative Territory; Toomey About Even: To our elected officials, allow us to summarize the results of Public Policy Polling (PPP)’s recent series of polling in Pennsylvania: voters are just not that into you.

GOP Blasts Obama Scranton Visit, Casey by Proxy: Lambasting him as the “Campaigner in Chief,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus told reporters that the President’s Scranton visit was indicative of a failure of leadership. Meanwhile, most Republicans agreed with Obama’s payroll tax policy.
