12th Congressional Dems Debate Tonight

It will be the final opportunity to for the Democratic voters in the Pittsburgh area to hear from the hopefuls for the nomination to the U.S. House in the 12th Congressional District.

Attorney Steve Irwin, state representative Summer Lee, University of Pittsburgh law professor Jerry Dickinson, executive director of the Pennsylvania College access program Jeff Woodard, and Will Parker will participate in a debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Greater Pittsburgh and WTAE-TV 4 in Pittsburgh tonight at 7 p.m.

WTAE anchor Shannon Perrine will moderate the debate which will take place in the WTAE studios.

For the first time in 25 years, the city of Pittsburgh will have new representation in Washington. The newly drawn 12th District contains portions of Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties.

The already contentious race has grown even more so in recent days, as the progressive Lee has come under attack from The United Democracy Project, an offshoot of a pro-Israel super PAC, that has poured over $350,000 into local airwaves and mailboxes stating that Lee is insufficiently loyal to the Democratic Party and President Joe Biden.

The debate is available on WTAE-TV 4 in the Pittsburgh area or also available on the WTAE mobile app.

  1. Jeff Woodard supports the 2nd amendment, is against an assault ban, and is against defunding the police. Seems very sensible. It would be better if he were pro life.
