Sabato updates the rating for two Pa. Congressional districts, 98 Democratic women file for the state legislature, Meuser launches his first TV ad, and Pawlowski resigns.  Good morning politicos, here’s the Playbook!

Sabato Updates Rating for PA-18 Special Election, Rothfus’ New Seat: Sabato’s Crystal Ball updated its ranking for the special election in the 18th district and for Congressman Keith Rothfus’ new 17th district, shifting both from ‘lean Republican’ to ‘toss up.’

98 Democratic Women File Petitions for State Legislature: As Democrats look to increase their numbers in the state Senate and House, 98 Democratic women have filed petitions to be on the ballot in the May primary with the help of groups like Emily’s List and Emerge Pennsylvania.

Meuser Launches First TV Ad: Republican Dan Meuser launched his first TV ad in his run for the new 9th Congressional district.

Pawlowski to Resign: Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski will reportedly resign his position today after being found guilty on federal corruption charges.

Legislative Election Update
HDCC filed petitions for candidates in a record 180 districts this year. “For the first time since 2008, more Democrats are running for State Representative than Republicans.  The failed leadership of the Republican Caucus is clear and Pennsylvanians are demanding better State Government as they surge to run for office in 2018. The grassroots energy in our Commonwealth is palpable, and the talented class of Democratic candidates in 2018 give me hope for a better future for our Commonwealth,” HDCC Executive Director Nathan Davidson said.
