Schwank Wins, Dems Get Their Mojo Back
Democrat Judy Schwank has won the special election to replace State Senator Mike O’Pake, and Democrats are happy to start off 2011 with a big win.

DCCC slams Pa. Reps over tsunami warning flooding
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Monday sought to capitalize on the widespread national attention on the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan. In a hard-hitting press release yesterday afternoon, the DCCC accused GOP Reps. Barletta, Dent, Fitzpatrick, Gerlach, Marino and Meehan of supporting funding cuts to the National Weather Service and the Tsunami Warning Center.

Corbett booed in Pittsburgh
The Governor received a less-than-encouraging welcome in Pittsburgh over the weekend. When Corbett came out to flip the coin before an arena football game, he was greeted by “a seemingly never ending chorus of boos.”

Pro-coal group defends Altmire, Barletta against conservation voter ads
The Common Sense Movement, a pro-gas and oil development group, is hitting back against radio ads by the League of Conservation Voters that aired against Reps. Lou Barletta and Jason Altmire.

Low turnout in city of Reading, campaign street money abounds
A dispatch from the campaign trail yesterday afternoon. Turnout in the City of Reading is low by all accounts, which could give pause to the campaign of Democrat Judy Schwank. Both campaigns are paying poll watchers in Latino neighborhoods.
