4/11 Morning Buzz

Harrisburg Capitol stepsGun rights groups have Sen. Pat Toomey in their sights, while another liberal group slams Corbett on the air. And the PGH mayoral race is on TV. Good morning politicos, here’s the Buzz.

Pittsburgh Mayor: Wagner on the Air (With Video): Jack Wagner is on the air today. His campaign unveiled its introductory ad in the former Auditor General’s run for Mayor. It’s a basic resume spot.

Toomey, Manchin Unveil Background Check Package: Sen. Pat Toomey and his Democratic colleague Joe Manchin of West Virginia Wednesday unveiled a legislative proposal to subject more gun purchases to background checks.

Gun Rights Groups Chilly Toward Toomey Plan: If Sen. Pat Toomey had hoped his background check compromise would win over gun rights advocates, he was disappointed Wednesday. The divide between gun rights advocates and gun control groups is stark.

Another Liberal Group Slams Corbett in New Ad (With Video): For the second time this week, an anonymously-funded liberal group is attacking Tom Corbett. The newly formed 501c(4) Pennsylvanians for Accountability accuses the Governor of cutting education to support corporations.

PA-13: Arkoosh Nets $218K in 2 Weeks: Since she filed to run for Allyson Schwartz’s congressional seat on March 14, physician and activist Valerie Arkoosh has brought in more than $218,000 in campaign cash.
