Good morning politicos, here’s the Buzz. Around the state, campaigns and candidates are putting the primary behind them and pivoting to the general election. Or, dare we say, shaking the Etch-a-Sketch.

Kane Poll: Kane Leads Freed: Kathleen Kane has emerged from her contested primary with momentum, a poll conducted by her campaign shows. She leads Republican Dave Freed 48 percent to 27 percent.

5/4 Ups & Downs: The general election has begun, and some people are counting their wins from last Tuesday. Others, not so much. Here are this week’s Ups & Downs, including a bit more reaction from last week’s primary election.

Altmire to Rally for Critz: Despite a hard-fought and sometimes contentious primary, Jason Altmire has appeared to overcome his loss and plans to throw his full support behind Mark Critz at a Monday rally in Pittsburgh with fellow Democratic lawmakers.

PA Cares for All: The broad coalition represents groups opposed to cuts in social services, and will have a rally today in the Capitol Rotunda at 11am. Rep. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks) will headline.

Romney Rallies in Pittsburgh: Despite a drop in unemployment numbers in a newly released jobs report, presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney said President Barack Obama’s policies continue to stifle entrepreneurship to an audience of around 300 at a Pittsburgh-area business.

Liberal Super PAC Protests Fitzpatrick Remarks: About two dozen protesters gathered outside Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick’s Bucks County office Thursday, accusing him of accusing President Obama of treason. Fitzpatrick had criticized the President for his recent ‘hot mic’ remarks to the President of Russia.

Legislative Election Updates

SD-47: People took notice when Kim Villella – Elder Vogel’s (R-Beaver) formidable Democratic opponent came to Harrisburg to criticize the newly drawn districts to the redistricting commission. The district would be more Republican, but wouldn’t be in effect for this election.

HD-14: A win for Rep. Jim Marshall. The Beaver Co Republican won the Democratic nomination on a write-in, despite a concerted effort by Democratic Midland Councilman Sam Rosatone Jr. to make the ballot.

HD-50: There will not be a special election for former (!) Rep. Bill DeWeese’s seat. Speaker Sam Smith said after consulting with Greene County officials, based on the cost of an extra election and the legislative calendar, that it doesn’t make practical sense.
