5/9 Morning Buzz

Harrisburg Capitol stepsAt long last, we have maps! And here’s a look at incumbents who may have to square off. Plus the latest F&M poll paints a rough picture for Tom Corbett. Good morning politicos, here’s the Buzz.

Redistricting Aftermath: Potential Member Vs. Member Battles: Now that the Pa. Supreme Court has cemented the new state House and Senate maps, lawmakers must look to 2014 – and in some cases at each other. Here are the potential races between incumbent legislators.

Supreme Court Upholds New Pa. House & Senate Lines: Ladies and gentlemen, we have a map. In a unanimous decision, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Wednesday approved the latest redistricting effort by lawmakers.

F&M Poll: 25% Say Corbett Deserves Re-election: Tom Corbett’s window is closing. He’ll face voters in 18 months but has yet to show that he can improve his poor numbers, the latest survey from Franklin and Marshall finds. Plus numbers on Obama, Casey and Toomey.

F&M Poll: Liquor Privatization Loses Steam: The latest Franklin & Marshall poll shows support for liquor privatization at its weakest ever while attitudes on other issues like guns, marijuana, and gay marriage stayed the same.

SEIU to Corbett in New Ad: Expand Medicaid (With Video): The Service Employees International Union wants Tom Corbett to expand Medicaid. SEIU’s Pa. chapter this week launched a $114,000 ad buy aimed at convincing him.

Lawmakers Introduce LGBT Non-Discrimination Bill, Others Want Marriage Amendment: A bipartisan group of Pa. lawmakers Tuesday announced a new push for LGBT non-discrimination legislation. Meanwhile, conservatives introduced a bill that would amend the Pa. constitution to acknowledge only traditional marriage.

In Philly Controller Race, Mandel is First on TV (With Video): Challenger Brett Mandel broke ground last week with a new television commercial in the race for Philadelphia Controller. The spot blames incumbent Alan Butkovitz for the City’s school funding problems.

Mittleman to Roberti + White: Longtime aide to Sen. Bob Casey this week moved to the bipartisan federal government affairs and public relations firm in DC. “From day one, Ari played a critical role in my 2006 Senate election,” Casey said. “He and I have traveled tens of thousands of miles together domestically and abroad. He has done great work on my behalf. As a native Pennsylvanian, I look forward to all his future success.”
