6/6 Morning Buzz

Good morning politicos, here’s the buzz. We’ve got some interesting new Franklin and Marshall poll numbers, more punches in the AG race, more TV ads in PA, and we want to know your opinion: is PA a swing state?

Poll: Obama 48, Romney 36: Barack Obama is in good shape in Pennsylvania according to the latest poll by Franklin & Marshall. The President has a solid lead over rival Mitt Romney, including a double-digit advantage among independents and the advantage among most demographic groups.

Freed Blasts Kane Over Obamacare: How much say does Pennsylvania’s Attorney General have over the health care law known as Obamacare? Not much. But Republican Dave Freed has called out Democratic opponent Kathleen Kane for saying she would withdraw PA from a lawsuit against it.

Casey to Boehner: Crack Down on China’s Currency Manipulation: Sen. Bob Casey called for the House of Representatives to take action against Chinese currency undervaluation Monday, after the Treasury Department released a report last week saying China’s currency is subject to “persistent and substantial undervaluation.”

New Crossroads Ad Hits Obama On Spending (Watch Video): In their latest Pennsylvania ad buy, Crossroads GPS attacked President Barack Obama for increasing spending despite campaign promises to curb the national debt.

Reader Poll: Is PA a Swing State?: Within the last three weeks PA has moved from swing state status to “leans Dem,” a move that may have prompted Romney to delay campaign efforts and for Obama to hit the gas on advertising. But with five months left, we’re asking readers: Is PA a swing state?

Survey Says: Supreme Court Will Reject Redistricting Map: We asked readers whether the Supreme Court will uphold the latest redistricting map, and a whopping 55 percent of you predict the map will be rejected because of either municipality splits or blatant gerrymandering.

Legislative Election Updates:

SD-49: A reader in Erie passed along this literature from Janet Anderson, the Republican candidate in the battle to replace retiring Sen. Jane Earll (one of PA’s top 2012 races). The reader commended Anderson for a bold stance against child trafficking with the slogan “We want to export our products, not our children.”
