Local 47 represents more than 1,200 members. Over the past two decades, the organization has been active in the education and training of the workforce in western Pennsylvania.
“Congressman Altmire has been by our side since coming into office, and we are proud to stand with him in this election,” said Rich Ghering, Business Manager for the Local 47. “We appreciate the commitment he has made to the plumbers and steamfitters in western Pennsylvania.”
Ghering also extended his gratitude to Altmire for his efforts to ensure continued economic growth in Beaver County.
“Congressman Altmire has been a leading advocate for our local workforce, and he worked hard to ensure that Beaver County was selected as the preferred site for Shell’s new cracker plant. Should Shell make the final decision to locate here, construction of the facility will employ many of our members. We can count on him to deliver for our region, and we strongly endorse him in this election.”
“Local 47 and workers across our region can continue to count on me to bring jobs and businesses to our region, and with their help, Beaver County can be a leader in the nation on job creation and economic growth,” Altmire said. “I thank them for the endorsement and look forward to working with them in the future.”
In addition to receiving the endorsement of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 47, the Democratic Committees of Beaver, Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties and the ATU Local 85 in Allegheny County have announced their support for Altmire in the 12th District election.
