PA Politicians React to Chauvin Trial Verdict: The Pennsylvania Capital-Star reports on “how Pennsylvania’s state and federal elected officials reacted to the verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin who was found guilty on three counts of murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd.”

Torsella Back on PSERS Board: The Pennsylvania Capital-Star reports that former state Treasurer Joe Torsella was approved in a unanimous vote by the state Senate to rejoin the board that oversees Pennsylvania’s Public School Employees Retirement System.

Washington Post: Cops vs. Krasner: A fight over criminal justice reform in Philadelphia: The Washington Post’s David Weigel reports on Philadelphia District Attorney Larry’s Krasner’s Democratic primary against challenger Carlos Vega. 

Inky: 153 ex-prosecutors slammed DA Larry Krasner in a letter. The Innocence Project took aim at his challenger, Carlos Vega.: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that 153 former prosecutors penned a letter urging voters to oust Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, while The Innocence Project said Carlos Vega “has misstated his role in the retrial of an innocent man.” 

Morning Call: Should Allentown stop recognizing English as its official language? City voters may be asked to weigh in: The Allentown Morning Call reports that Allentown City Council President Julio Guridy and Vice President Cynthia Mota will introduce a proposed referendum question on Wednesday for the November general election ballot asking “whether a provision in the city’s Home Rule Charter designating English as the city’s official language should be deleted.”

Marijuana-Legalization Supporters Rally at Pa. State Capitol: PennLive reports that more than 100 people gathered at the state capitol on Tuesday to rally in support of the legalization of marijuana in Pennsylvania. 

Tribune-Review: Trio of Pa. bills addresses gaps in drug rehabilitation process: The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports on several bills that were unanimously passed on Tuesday that are “aimed at ensuring that friends and family of people struggling with addiction issues are kept “in the loop,” so to speak.”

Bush to highlight in-person JES Global Summit in November: The Erie Times-News reports that former President George W. Bush will be the featured speaker at the Jefferson Educational Society’s 13th Global Summit speaker series at Erie’s Bayfront Convention Center in Erie.  

West Chester Mayoral Candidates Discuss Police Diversity: The Daily Local News reports that “diversification and management of police took center stage” at Sunday’s virtual hour-long mayoral forum, which was organized by the West Chester Alliance for Social Justice. 

Indivisible Bucks County Endorses Mark Lomax for Sheriff: The Bucks Local News reports that Indivisible Bucks County has endorsed Democratic candidate Mark Lomax for Bucks County Sheriff. 

WFMZ: Proposal in Reading calls for paying the homeless to clean up streets, beautify the city: WFMZ reports that there is a “bold new proposal” in Reading that “calls for paying the homeless to clean up the streets and beautify the city,” that has the support of several key groups. 

Morning Call To Host Allentown City Council Candidate Forum Thursday: The Allentown Morning Call will be hosting and moderating an Allentown City Council candidate forum on Facebook on Thursday evening, starting at 7 p.m. The Morning Call reports that nine Democrats and one Republican are vying for four open seats on the seven-member council. 

Beaver County Times Provides List of Primary Candidates for Beaver County: The Beaver County Times provides a list of all of the May 18 primary races in Beaver County.  

Wolf Orders Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Walter Mondale: PennLive reports that Gov. Tom Wolf ordered that all United States and Commonwealth flags on the Capitol Complex and Commonwealth facilities throughout the state be lowered to half-staff to honor former Vice President Walter Mondale.
