Pennsylvania will lose one U.S. House seat after reapportionment, while CNN rates Pennsylvania’s 2022 U.S. Senate seat as most likely to flip. Here is the Playbook. 

CNN Keeps 2022 PA Senate Seat As Most Likely To Flip in Latest Ratings: CNN’s Simone Pathe writes that although “Democrats may be contending with a messy primary, they see the wide interest in the seat as a sign of the opportunity to flip it.”

PA7: Scheller, with 500K Loan, Leads Wild in Cash on Hand: Rep. Susan Wild entered April with just under $515,000 cash on hand, while Lisa Scheller’s campaign ended March with just under $675,000 cash on hand.

Kenyatta Raises Close To $375K in Q1: The Philadelphia Democrat raised just under $375,000 and entered April with just over $215,000 cash on hand.

PA To Lose a U.S. House Seat After Redistricting: Spotlight PA reports on Pennsylvania going from the current 18 congressional districts to 17 districts by the time the 2022 midterm election arrives.

PA Progressives See Biden’s Infrastructure Push as a Chance to Go Big on Climate Change: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Pennsylvania climate activists and progressive groups are “pushing President Joe Biden and congressional Democrats to go big as Washington debates Biden’s $2 trillion jobs and infrastructure proposal.”

PA Legislative Redistricting Commission Sets Out to Find A Chairman: PennLive reports that “Pennsylvania’s legislative leaders began interviews on Monday with the 37 candidates interested in filing the fifth seat on the five-member commission charged with drawing state legislative district boundaries.”

ChamberPAC Endorses Brobson for PA Supreme Court: PennLive reports that ChamberPAC, the political arm of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, has endorsed Republican Judge Kevin Brobson for the State Supreme Court. 

Lamb Sends Letter Calling for Three Medicare-Related Provisions: POLITICO reports that Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Allegheny) and three other House Democrats organized a letter to the White House asking for Biden’s American Families plan to “include these three Medicare-related provisions: allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices; expand Medicare by lowering the eligibility age to 60; and add Medicare benefits such as dental, vision and hearing.”

Kenney Dodges Endorsing Krasner: Broad + Liberty reports that Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney “dodged three direct questions” in a television interview on 6ABC’s Inside Story on Sunday about “whether he would endorse incumbent District Attorney Larry Krasner’s re-election bid” against primary challenger Carlos Vega. 

Santorum Draws Fire for Remarks About Native Americans: PennLive reports that former Sen. Rick Santorum “raised the ire of pundits on social media after remarks made on Saturday at a Young America’s Foundation event during which he suggested that Native Americans had contributed little to the United States.”

WESA Previews Allegheny County Council’s 9th District Dem Primary: WESA highlights the upcoming primary in Allegheny County Council’s 9th District between incumbent Councilor Bob Macey and primary challenger Steven Singer, a Steel Valley Middle School teacher. 

Wolf Says He’ll Veto Ban on Transgender Athletes in Women’s Sports: The Hill reports that Gov. Tom Wolf said on Monday that he will veto a bill banning transgender athletes playing women’s sports in the state, if it passes the state legislature. 

Allegheny County Council to Debate Countywide Police Review Board: KDKA reports that Allegheny County Council will debate a countywide police review board during Tuesday’s council meeting at 5 p.m.

Casey Hosts Drive in Town Hall in York: ABC27 reports that Sen. Bob Casey promoted the American Rescue Plan during a drive-in town hall in York on Friday night. 

Bipartisan Bill Would Give Minor League Teams a Break with Social Distancing: The Altoona Mirror reports that state Reps. Jim Gregory (R-Blair) and Mark Rozzi (D-Berks) have announced a new bill that would reduce social distancing requirements in minor league stadiums from 6 feet to 3 feet.  

Kelly and Reschenthaler Seek $74 Million for 12 Transportation Projects in Pittsburgh Region: The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Butler) filed requests for more than $39 million for seven transportation projects in his district, while Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-Allegheny) filed requests for $34 million for five PennDOT projects in his district.

  1. Well, of course Republicans want to eliminate a Democratic seat. Do you think that Democrats don’t want to eliminate a Republican seat? Your political statements are those of a pot-stirring troll, not of a serious advocate for better government. How about your suggestion for which seat to eliminate? That’s too dicey, isn’t it?

  2. You can be sure the GOP will want to eliminate a Dem seat. That’s the only way GOP can win. By suppressing votes and eliminating Dem seat. Cancel culture all the way in the most blatant hypocrisy. The GOP way: lie, cheat, steal.
