PA Governor Race: Republican Governor Candidates Square Off: Four of the GOP candidates seeking the Republican nomination for governor met on the debate stage and found more in common than might have originally been expected.

  • Mastriano Campaigned at Event Promoting QAnon: GOP candidate for Governor Doug Mastriano was a speaker at the “Patriots Arise” conference in Gettysburg last weekend. The event was hosted by a pair of QAnon activists and deeply steeped in the language of right-wing Christian fundamentalism.
  • Daniels’ Wife Obtains PFA Order Against Him: Teddy Daniels, GOP candidate for lieutenant governor, has been ordered to stay away from his home after his wife obtained a protective order citing claims of physical and mental abuse.
  • AP: Candidate in Pennsylvania primary hit with protective order 
  • Philly Clout: A dark money group set up to support Lou Barletta for Pennsylvania governor just turned on him
  • Inquirer: A GOP candidate for lieutenant governor was barred from his home after his wife accused him of abuse

PA Senate Race: ‘David McCormick and Mehmet Oz made their pitch to Northeastern Pennsylvania at an ice fishing party’: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that “candidates for statewide office don’t often run into one another on the campaign trail. But for one day, Pike County felt like the center of Pennsylvania’s Republican political universe.”

‘Pro-Israel group attacks Lee as bad Democrat without mentioning Israel, or its own support for GOP’: WESA reports that “a pro-Israeli political committee has taken to Pittsburgh’s airwaves by attacking Congressional candidate Summer Lee. But while its advertisements — which don’t mention Israel at all — blast Lee for not being a loyal Democrat, the organization behind it also backs hardline Republicans who fought to overturn Joe Biden’s election.”

‘Primary 2022: 2 vying for GOP nod in the 4th Congressional District’: The Reading Eagle reports that “Comcast executive Christian Nascimento and insurance agent Daniel Burton Jr. will face each other in the May 17 primary. The winner of the primary will face Madeleine Dean, a Montgomery County Democrat who is seeking her third term, in the general election.

‘AG Josh Shapiro files motion to revoke bail of former Somerset Co. DA’: KDKA reports that “Pennsylvania’s Attorney General is filing a motion to have bail revoked for the former District Attorney in Somerset County. Jeffrey Thomas is facing new charges that were filed earlier this week.”

‘Campus-based child care has helped student-parents; Democrats evaluate expansion, affordability’: The Pennsylvania Capital-Star reports that “on Thursday, student-parents and child care providers said additional funding for campus-based programs could help sustain care and address student retention rates across Pennsylvania schools.”

‘Fair funding fallout’: City & State PA provides “a look back at the state’s education funding trial and where the General Assembly can go from here.”

‘New report takes stock of Muslim voter participation in Pennsylvania’: City & State PA reports that “EmgageUSA, a national nonprofit organization that seeks to empower Muslim American communities, released a report Wednesday analyzing Muslim voter turnout during the 2020 election. The voter impact report both tracked Muslim American voters in 12 states and their participation following Emgage’s Million Muslim Votes campaign.”

  1. Dem candidates seem to have a problem not beating their wives or kids. Dem response: Give us another one, just like the other one (from Philadelphia)

  2. When your guys make news because they are Qanon supporters and wife beaters, then you should know something went very wrong in your Party.

  3. Daniels is done. Campaign will be all about legal issue from this ointforward.

    1. Mastriano should be done, too. His campaign seems all about Qanon. LOL. SMH. This is what PA GOP has sunk to.

      1. Mastriano should win now. His campaign is all about MAGA. The PA Dems have sunk so low, they have no chance.
