Auditor General Race: Michael Lamb Releases 1st TV Ad

The Auditor General’s race goes to television.

Pittsburgh City Controller Michael Lamb, one of six Democrats seeking the party nomination for Auditor General, released his first television ad of the primary campaign.

Lamb’s 15 second spot touts endorsements from various labor, teacher, and firefighter unions across the state and points to his experience in public office as proof that he believes that he’s the candidate best equipped to serve in the statewide office.

“For Auditor General, labor, teachers, and firefighters support Michael Lamb, because Lamb has the most experience cutting waste, and reforming government. Progressive, effective, Michael Lamb, the Democrat,” a voiceover reads in the 15 second ad.

The Lamb campaign said that the TV ad buy is in the six-figure range and went to television on Saturday May 16 and is expected to remain on the air through the election. A spokesperson added that the television ad is being aired in five different markets in the state: Erie, Johnstown-Altoona-State College, Lehigh Valley, Pittsburgh, and Scranton-Wilkes-Barre. The Lamb campaign said that the television ad is on broadcast in each of those five markets, while the ad is on both broadcast and cable in some markets.

The five other Democrats seeking the party nomination include former Lancaster County congressional candidate Christina Hartman, former Deputy Philadelphia Mayor Nina Ahmad, longtime Auditor General office employee Tracie Fountain, and state Rep. Scott Conklin (D-Centre), and Rosie Marie Davis, a Monroe County CPA.

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party did not endorse a candidate for the office at their winter meeting, although Lamb was the highest vote getter after one round of voting, but did not surpass the two-thirds threshold needed for the endorsement.

  1. Michael Lamb is the most qualified candidate for Auditor General. His experience as City Controller will help him as Auditor General

  2. I like Michael Lamb over all the others. Too bad I can’t vote for him in the primary.

  3. Really needed to do this earlier. For a low info race like this, I think any candidate would have gotten more bang for their buck in early may when mail in ballots started going out. My bet is most people end up voting for the candidate from their county. Since the Philly vote isn’t split and the non Philly vote is split multiple ways, I’m betting Ahmad wins the primary, which is a shame cause I don’t think she’s the most qualified. I like her for other offices but not auditor general.

  4. The Republican, Tim DeFoor is a quality candidate who is really qualified for Auditor General. He also knows it a performance job, not a job to advance a long term political career for say a failed run at Governor, US Senate or even Congress!

  5. did someone make this ad at home in their basement on an Atari? wow. hope he’s more professional than his ad.

  6. Nina’s been airing ads in Philly region for a while. I haven’t seen ads for any of the other candidates.

Sounds like candidates are taking regional approach.
