Barletta Officially Enters the Senate Race
Barletta launched his website and a video announcement early this morning.
“After talking to Mary Grace and our family, many people across Pennsylvania, and saying a few prayers, I have decided to run for the United States Senate,” Barletta says in the video.
Barletta told GOP leaders he would be entering the race at the end of July, but had not made a public announcement.
The Pennsylvania Democratic Party responded to the announcement, going immediately on the offensive.
“Pennsylvania’s families and seniors need a Senator they can count on to fight for them. An ethically challenged congressman like Lou Barletta can only be counted on to fight for himself. The commonwealth deserves better than Congressman Lou Barletta,” Democratic party spokesman Max Steele said in a statement.
Barletta’s website had launched for a few hours late last night before being put back behind a wall until the announcement this morning.
Barletta joins state Reps. Rick Saccone (R-Allegheny) and Jim Christiana (R-Beaver), Borough Councilmen Andrew Shektor and fellow businessmen Paul Addis, Jeff Bartos, and Bobby Lawrence in the race.
