Biden Endorses Boyd In HD-163

President Joe Biden, Heather Boyd

There are endorsements … and then there are endorsements.

In Pennsylvania’s special election for the 163rd House District seat, the endorsements don’t get much bigger than the 46th President of the United States.

President Joe Biden endorsed Heather Boyd for the seat previously held by Mike Zabel in Delaware County. The seat is crucial for PA Democrats to retain the majority in the state house.

“With control of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on the line, this race will determine the future of so many fundamental freedoms that Pennsylvanians hold dear,” Biden told the Philadelphia Inquirer in a statement. “That’s why I am incredibly proud to endorse Heather Boyd for Pennsylvania House District 163. Heather is an experienced public servant who will protect a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions, stand up for common sense gun safety laws and expand access to voting rights.”

Boyd adds this to her endorsement file that also includes Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, state House Speaker Joanna McClinton (D-Philadelphia/Delaware) and U.S. Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, whom Boyd worked for as a Senior Advisor.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of President Biden, a man who has dedicated his life to service to others,” said Boyd. “The Biden infrastructure plan is already bringing jobs and safer commutes to Pennsylvanians. We must stand together as Americans to protect our fundamental freedoms and our democracy from MAGA extremists trying to tear us apart.”

“There are no off-years for state legislatures and we are excited to have President Biden’s endorsement in this critical special election,” said Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee interim President Heather Williams. “Single seats can determine the balance of power in state legislatures and can decide whether or not people have health care access or the right to vote. This is especially true in Pennsylvania.”

Boyd is running for the office against Republican Katie Ford and Libertarian Alfe Goodwin.

HD-163 includes the Delaware County municipalities of Aldan, Clifton Heights, Collingdale, and parts of Darby and Upper Darby Townships.

  1. Let’s Go Brandon! Why would he endorse someone who has stiid up and protected a sexual predator?

  2. boyd said she is honored to have the support of biden, calling him someone “who has dedicated his life to service to others.”

I wonder… by “others” does she mean all other members of the biden Crime Family?

    1. Also: why does politicspa use such an outdated file photo of the big guy for this piece? That pic has to be 20 years old?

  3. President Biden is weighing in because victory is looking good. Like pushing the player into the end zone on a 4th and inches for the touchdown.
