Chaka Fattah has officially resigned from Congress.
After being convicted on Tuesday, Fattah was initially coy about what he would do next.
Yesterday he announced his intention to step down on October 3rd, the day before his sentencing hearing. Members of Congress, including Speaker Ryan, were not satisfied with this idea.
As a result, Fattah is now resigning effective immediately. Jonathan Tamari of Inquirer broke the news:

If Seth Williams gets indicted and I think for Lynne the former DA in Phildelphia will take over until a special election gets called.
