Kathleen Kane’s longest tenured spokesman Chuck Ardo announced that he will step down as of Tuesday.

Ardo is literally driving out of the state right now to visit family in Ohio although he did take the time to talk to some journalists around the state.
“I just didn’t feel as though I could do the job in the manner I believed it needed to be done and the constant drumbeat of answering questions about a variety of scandals and alleged scandals has taken its toll,” Ardo told Steve Esack of the Morning Call. “On Tuesday morning, it is my intention to terminate my contract.”
“I could no longer in good conscience do the job she had hired me to do,” he told Wallace McKelvey of the Patriot-News. “I’m not particularly religious and there are lots of people who would wonder about my ethics, but I try to be honest and I try to be transparent. It’s difficult to do this job with those values.”
It’s not clear if Ardo’s decision is the result of any one incident. This week, though, we did learn that the AG had yelled at him for letting McKelvey into the Harrisburg office and that Kane’s driver is still receiving a paycheck despite being convicted and sentenced to prison for criminal contempt.
Regardless, Kane has lost her most valuable press aide who was with her for thirteen months. That’s an eternity by her standards, as by our count Ardo is the seventh spokesman to walk away.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I’ve had no contact with the police (not even a traffic ticket). SpongeBob must be whispering more stories in your ear during pillow talk.
I make some decent side money providing voter data. I’ll probably be updating my system tomorrow with turnout data from the April primary (well ahead of the VAN/VoteBuilder system the party uses). But, this will not be a surprise to my customers, who are quite spoiled by early and frequent updates.
I guess you aren’t concerned about the children SpongeBob preys upon. He’s eager to get Kane out of office because of her aggressive stance against child predators and having to watch over his shoulder.

For someone who has accused me of stalking you seem to find a way to want to know more about me and always want to counter anything I say. Once again I ask when you were nominated to be czar of post information here. I didn’t make wild speculation about the report. I simply stated that it could be possible that the two events happening on the same day could lead to speculation of a relationship between the 2 events. And either way who cares. I don’t proclaim to know what’s on the report. Only that maybe the timing seems interesting. And based on the political commentary from reporters on the various PA media sites it seems as this theory is something others speculate on as well.
As for posting on the site, it just goes to show your character again. You seem to be for freedom of speech……unless that speech disagrees with you. You encourage a nutbag who clearly posts under dozens of names on this site in his anti-Fina rantings because it coincides with your beliefs. But for me you choose to continue to discuss my qualifications to post. Also love you comment about if you were an admin seeing my accounts and ip’s. Since there is only 1 that would be pretty easy. So if you don’t like what I say, tough. Until you are an admin you have no say in the rules here.

AG’s Kane’s tenure has been “less than ideal”, but Ardo was just plain wrong.
Again, you speculate about a report you haven’t seen and the motivations to justify your imagined results.
Just because the admins let you post, doesn’t mean you are qualified to offer a valid opinion. Maybe they let you post to demonstrate what a failure looks like, or they recognize you have “special needs” and are accommodating you.
If I became a site admin here, I wouldn’t let you know until I had every last one of your IP addresses and aliases documented.

First of all yeah I recognize that what he did was less than ideal. But let me put something out there.
Let’s say next weeks report is less than favorable to republicans with minimal impact to democrats and Ardo resigned on the same day. It would open the opportunity for people to question the results. In fact I would even say if the 2 were announced the same day it would almost ensure that speculation.
Second, you are not in charge of qualifying who can and can’t post here given the utter nonsense that you have written in the past. When you become a site admin here let me know and you can then set the f#cking rules. Until then shut the hell up.

First of all, you are speculating about a process of which you have zero knowledge.
Second, you are unable to understand Ardo’s obvious breach of ethics and professionalism.
You are demonstrating that you aren’t even qualified to post here.
But, given your own lack of ethics and penchant for projection, I can’t say I’m surprised.
I am saying maybe there is a strategy on the table that he thought was not appropriate and instead of being part of it decided to bail. And what is unethical about announcing his resignation? Maybe at some point you can look at the source and assign some blame to Kane.

If the information had leaked from someone in the office or there had been rumors of him leaving, that’s one thing. But, for him to call around to reporters and announce his intention to quit, after his holiday vacation, is just being an asshole.
He should have waited for a replacement to be found or let Kane make the announcement herself or through approved channel or press release.
David at every turn you find ways to ignore the facts. Once again Kane has driven out another ally, Ardo isn’t a Corbett guy or a republican shill. He is old school party through and through. Kane is so off her rails she is embarrassing herself even more. So sure blame Ardo instead of the real problem.

Kane’s only got 6 months left in office. Those six months are going to be a lot of work with the trial, and the nonsense around it. The press will be like a circus (and the Inky reporters who’ve been at the center of the leaks will be like ringmasters, despite their own culpability).
It’s a crap job, when the press is asking you questions, despite their own involvement in grand jury leaks (which would blow the case wide open by revealing the actions of Kane’s enemies).
Does anyone think that there is something bigger down the road that’s going to happen maybe even prior to Kane’s trial? Maybe Ardo was caught up in something intentionally or unintentionally however this can’t look good for Kane. What I will find most interesting is what he says if anything after he leaves about the Kane administration. Also, if Kane was so upset that Ardo let a reporter into the Office for that damaging story where was her surrogate Bruce Castor? How many people does that make now that are getting paid but not doing any work?
David, if you can get past his method of announcing it what does it say to you that Ardo would not finish this thing out? Ardo has been the king of handling the impossible in PA press where others crumbled. So for him to bail has to speak volumes to you about Kanes character. At some point even you have to agree that Kane is poor at leading and clearly should not be AG.

He served long enough. He’s got to think about his next job after January, and get some distance. The Wolfs of Harrisburg won’t appreciate that he did his job well. What does help him is that the Kane saga helped elect a Democratic Supreme Court in time for the 2020 re-districting, and he was very effective in getting her best talking points into that conversation. The next generation of female Democratic candidates will appreciate that, even if the dinosaurs in Harrisburg don’t.
As a Democrat, I can honestly say I can’t wait until January for this nightmare to be over.

Spokesperson is not a lawyer, and could testify if compelled on relevant matters with just cause.
However, from a strictly professional stand-point, going to the press and stirring up trouble, when your job is exactly the opposite, is a serious breach of decorum and the core of the job, when he’s PAID to support her interests. Also, there is an understanding of confidentiality regarding internal politics/deliberations in dealing with news releases and forming the strategy of public statements.
He might have gotten tired of the jobs, or the leaks that he had to deal with. Maybe he got a job offer and decided Kane was not a long-term job prospect for him.
Maybe, he didn’t like the heat he was getting from Kane’s detractors questioning his ethics. But, one, that’s the job, particularly for such a high-ranking/profile client. And, two, calling the press like he did was a punk move, that legitimately calls into question his judgement/integrity.
David Diano, I can now see why you believed a contract originated. I also agree that based on the timing and quotes AG Kane could and should have fired him the very date the statement was made to the press. Now playing devils advocate do you think an issue of import occurred and Mr. Ardo decided to “quit” that AG Kane would not fire him and not jepordize any payments to include vacation, sick time, pension for which he would not qualify if he were to be fired. A sort of quid pro co arrangement. Of interest however is your analogy to that of a lawyer/

I don’t know the particulars of the contract, but the job of spokesperson is almost like being a lawyer, in that you are representing your client and have inside/confidential information that you must be careful about releasing. This is especially true when you job is primarily speaking to the press.
So, when you speak to the press, in a damaging way your client, while still employed as spokesperson, that’s cause to be fired and unprofessional conduct.
If Kane can fire him, without have to pay for severance or his holiday, she should.
The August trial is getting closer and closer and closer! The winds of judgment are coming down on Ms. Kane.
Considering all the ridiculous things Kane had him out there to say to defend her improper behavior, I have no issue with him telling members of the press that they won’t be able to abuse him anymore. How about commenting on how it seems Kane is losing her mind?
David, I don’t think there is a signed contract as referenced in your post. However, you are correct in that he serves at the pleasure of the Attorney General and can be terminated without cause.

The only reason not to fire him immediately would be to avoid severance pay, but this is would be firing for cause and he shouldn’t get severance.
I am saying that in his career Ardo has been able to navigate tricky circumstances that other would have shied away from. I don’t know him personally but I have a ton of respect for him being the guy that had to be in the line of fire from reporters. Especially dealing with what seems to be a person in Kane who is demonstrating a lack of mental stability. I think Ardo is savvy and knows he can No longer walk the fine line of Kane’s nuttiness.
