Senator Pat Toomey has canceled his appearance at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference because of the ongoing uncertainty over the federal budget.
“They’ve asked everyone to stay in [DC], because they don’t know when a vote will be called,” said Toomey’s 2010 campaign manager Mark Harris.
He was scheduled to speak after Charles Krauthammer and before Lt. Governor Jim Cawley at tonight’s “Liberty Dinner.”
The PLC is home base for Toomey, who is a hero to the conservative crowd.
In April 2009, the strong support he enjoyed among the PLC’s grassroots conservatives activists contributed to Senator Arlen Specter’s decision to switch parties.
