Campaigns & Elections: Toretti Named Top “Influencer”

Christine Toretti
Christine Toretti

Christine Toretti was praised today as one of the most influential campaigners in the country by Campaigns & Elections Magazine. The magazine released a feature that identified the top 50 “influencers” in today’s national politics. They selected 10 individuals in five distinct categories: Communicators, Disruptors, Campaigners, Enforcers and Activists.

Toretti’s role in founding the Political Action Committee “Women Lead” led to her being named one of the 10 most influential campaigners. They write:

The GOP has a problem winning female voters and some see recruitment of female candidates as a remedy. Toretti, a talented fundraiser with a sterling business background, formed a Super PAC this year to connect big donors with female candidates. Her main goal: convincing top female donors that they should concentrate their money to female candidates in an effort to increase their influence in the Republican campaign world. If the GOP narrows the gap on female voters in 2014, Women Lead will deserve some credit.

Toretti is the Chairwoman and CEO of S.W. Jack Drilling Co., an oil and gas drilling company founded by her grandfather and headquartered in Indiana, PA. She has also been deeply involved in Republican politics and has served as a RNC National Committeewoman since 1997. She even chaired Lynn Swann’s 2006 campaign for Governor.

The Women Lead PAC describes itself as an organization focused on bringing women back to the Republican Party.

“Women Lead PAC is an organization founded and operated by women,” it states on their official website. “Our mission is to support Republican women candidates taking on the toughest challenges in American politics. Our efforts and resources will be devoted to communicating with women voters in key races.”
