Carville-Backed SuperPAC Could Help Lamb Close Fundraising Gap

Penn Progress. Get to know the name.

It is a super PAC that has set a target of raising $8 million for TV ad time and other paid media for the May primary, and it is supporting Democrat Conor Lamb in the U.S. Senate race. Key Democratic donors have received emails from James Carville, longtime Democratic strategist, introducing Penn Progress.

“I wanted to reach out to you about the single most important Senate race in the country this November which is being held in Pennsylvania,” Carville wrote in one email obtained by POLITICO and the Philadelphia Inquirer. “There is no way that Democrats can expand our majority in the Senate if we do not pick up the Pennsylvania Senate seat and the best person to win that race is my good friend Conor Lamb. … Conor has a tough primary, and I was hoping you could help him by supporting Penn Progress, the independent effort set up to help ensure Conor is our nominee.”

According to the Federal Election Commission, Penn Progress, Inc. registered as a Super PAC on September 16, 2021, with Diane Evans listed as the treasurer. In the last quarter of 2021, Penn Progress raised $35,000, including $25,000 from SMART – the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Political Action League – and $10,000 from Stephen Cozen from Philadelphia.

In the memo, the group sets goals that include spending $8 million on ads, $200,000 on polling, and $60,000 on research, website and social media.

The support could help Lamb close the significant funds gap of approximately $2.3 million between his campaign and that of John Fetterman.

  1. And Dems snatch defeat from the jaws of victory again. This socialist will vote for any currently announced Dem except Manchin/Sinema/Lamb. Dude won’t even say if he’s pro or anti choice. And here comes Hillary and Bills boy to seal the deal.

Can we someday pretty please have a left party in America? We used to. They had to amend the Constitution to get the last and perhaps only Dem Socialist to stop getting re elected.

Flash forward a century and I’d settle for a left of center capitalist. But that’s too much to ask.

  2. Whichever candidate the Dems choose will be miles ahead of anyone the GOP has crawling out from under a Trump rock.

    1. 100% agree. Lt. Governor Fetterman seems uncomfortable in debates and lacks Rep. Conor Lambs confidence in those settings. Fetterman’s wobbly performance in the State Committee presentation was understandable for a newbie but not so for a sitting Lt. Governor. Inside Elections has the Senate seat in Pa as leaning Republican right now and Gov in Pa a toss-up. This should tell you what will happen if Fetterman gets the Senate nod. Atty Gen Shapiro wins and Lt Gov Fetterman goes back to western, Pa.

          1. Is that you Billybob? You still have that “stop the steal” sign up in your window of your apartment?

    2. Lamb voted with Donald Trump’s agenda 70% of the time while in Congress. Yeah, that’s sure to juice Dem turnout…

He’s a little banker’s boy propped up by PNC Bank and his lobbyist daddy…and he’s still getting crushed in fundraising and the polls.

Hopefully Carville has that same magic touch for Conor that he did for Michael Bennet!!!
