Casey, Majority of PA Congressional Dems Support Impeachment Proceedings

For months, the issue of impeachment has divided Pennsylvania Democrats. Since Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has announced that the House is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, the state’s Congressional delegation is seemingly divided no-more.

Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) and Reps. Matt Cartwright (D-Lackawanna), Chrissy Houlahan (D-Chester), and Susan Wild (D-Lehigh), who previously have not endorsed impeachment proceedings, have offered support for Pelosi’s move after the reported phone conversation that Trump held with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urging him to look into Biden’s son’s business dealings in the country, became public. Trump issued an address Wednesday morning calling the impeachment inquiry “the single greatest witch hunt in American history” and said he offered “no pressure” to Zelenskiy to investigate Biden’s son.

Casey’s statement on Wednesday afternoon said that Trump’s conversation with Zelenskiy about Biden’s son is a “textbook case of abuse of power which demands action.”

Cartwright, who represents the most Trump friendly district represented by a Democrat in the state, shot out a tweet on Tuesday afternoon saying that the recent report reveals that there “have been credible allegations this week that the President abused the power of his office, on the international stage, for his own political gain.”

Houlahan, along with six other freshman House Democrats, penned an op-ed on Monday evening published by the Washington Post saying that if the allegations were true that it “represent an impeachable offense.” On Wednesday morning, Houlahan went further to quote tweet NBC News’s transcript of the call memo that Trump held with Zelenskiy, saying that it is a “sad day for our country” and that “the legitimacy of our democracy depends on it.”

Wild provided a statement on Tuesday afternoon that said if the allegations are true and “the administration continues to withhold the whistleblower complaint at the heart of this matter, I will support an impeachment inquiry.”

Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Allegheny) is the lone Democrat in Pennsylvania’s delegation who has not explicitly said he will support impeachment proceedings, but said on Tuesday afternoon in a tweet that “we need to get the full text of the whistleblower complaint by Thursday, not just the transcript of one phone call” and said he’ll have more to say in the coming days when more facts are released.

In July, five of the nine members of the state’s Democratic Congressional delegation voted against killing an impeachment resolution. Reps. Brendan Boyle (D-Philadelphia), Madeleine Dean (D-Montgomery), Mike Doyle (D-Allegheny), Dwight Evans (D-Philadelphia), and Mary Gay Scanlon (D-Delaware) were a part of the 95 Democrats voting against killing the impeachment resolution. These five Democrats continue to support impeachment proceedings after Pelosi’s announcement Tuesday afternoon.

Republicans in the state have not offered support for the impeachment inquiry, while some in Congress, including Reps. Fred Keller (R-Snyder) and Lloyd Smucker (R-Lancaster) have sent out fundraising emails over the inquiry that includes messages of support to Trump.

How is that news? At least they admit that overthrowing the elected president is purely politics. How much tax payer dollars has been spent trying to overthrow the US Gov’t?

No mention of Dems paying >$10M for Russian Dossier (DNC=>Steel=>Russia).
No mention of Biden arm twisting Ukraine.
    No mention of China bribe.
    Russia, Russia, Russia
    Stormy, Stormy, Stormy
    Racist, Racist, Racist

    1. What’s the matter? Rejects over at Breitbart toss you for being obviously stupid? That’s quite a distinction, a reject like you being tossed aside by his fellow rejects

  2. Really? Wow, whoda thunk it?

Why doesn’t the press just accurately state that almost all of TheRump’s team is against impeachment, as almost all his enemies are for it?

It is more efficient than ‘breaking’ that this or that individual R is opposed, this Dem is for, followed by pointless paragraphs explaining why each came to their novel conclusion.

If ten Rs total (both chambers) vote to impeach I will be absolutely shocked. No matter what the articles say he has done. If forty Dems (both chambers) oppose, equal shockitude.

  3. This is like Watergate but if the President hired the burglars himself and used public funds to do it and the burglars were all foreign government officials. This isn’t just illegal, it is an obvious violation of the public trust. There needs to be a full investigation and accountability. It’s time for true patriots to stand up and be counted or forever remain in ignominy.

  4. Trump clearly broke the law, and then tried to cover it up. Not sure why anyone would want to defend him.

    1. What law did he break? Trump did not take bribes from Ukraine or China? Trump did not pay Russia to interfere in 2016 election, (DNC=>Steele=>Russia).
Maybe that is the broken law? Trump is not another corrupt politician like Biden, Warren, Sanders, etc.

      1. Well first, accepting foreign help to get elected. Second solicited foreign help. Want to include emoluments in there too sparky? We can go all night
