Center For American Greatness/Insider Advantage Poll: Biden 45.8, Trump 42.6

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump by a few points in Pennsylvania, according to polling commissioned by this conservative website

An Insider Advantage phone poll commissioned by the Center for American Greatness of likely voters in the state shows Biden leading Trump by just over 3 points, 45.8%-to-42.6%, while 2.4% said they would vote for Libertarian presidential candidate Jo Jorgensen, and 9.3% are undecided.

According to analysts at FiveThirtyEight, Insider Advantage has an overall B- grade. NPR describes the Center for American Greatness as a “conservative website.”

Although Biden leads by 3 points, analysis from the Center for American Greatness stated that Trump is “closing the gap,” while citing the Real Clear Politics average of Biden’s lead in Pennsylvania shrinking a tad over the past few days.

The polling also shows mixed results on whether Pennsylvanians would support future lockdowns to slow the spread of COVID.

Before the question was posed asking if voters believe that “lockdowns are an effective way to deal with spikes in COVID cases” they provided the following statement: “This week, the World Health Organization declared that lockdowns are not the way to deal with any future rise in Covid 19. They claim that lockdowns will lead to increased poverty.”

After hearing the question and framing, 46.1% said that they disagree with future lockdowns, while 42.9% said they agree with future lockdowns, and 11% are undecided.

Numerous polls have been released in October that show Biden leading in the state, although the margin varies by the pollster.

A New York Times/Siena College poll of likely voters shows Biden carrying a 7 point lead over Trump, 49-to-42. A CBS poll conducted by YouGov released one day after the NYT/Siena College poll also shows Biden leading Trump by 7 points, 51-to-44, among likely voters. A Monmouth University shows the former VP leading the president by 12 points, 54-to-42, among registered voters in the state. A CNBC/Change Research poll released last Tuesday shows Biden carrying a 4 point lead, 50-to-46, among likely voters in the state. An Emerson College poll of likely voters showed Biden leading Trump by 5 points, 50-to-45, in the state. A Baldwin Wallace University Great Lakes poll released last Sunday, in partnership with Oakland University and Ohio Northern University, shows Biden leading Trump by just over 5 points, 49.6%-to-44.5%. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released yesterday show Biden leading Trump by 7 points, 51-to-44, among likely voters in the state. A Morning Consult poll of likely voters in the state shows Biden leading Trump by 8 points, 52-to-44.

Biden’s largest lead in recent polling comes from Quinnipiac University that shows the former VP leading the president by 13 points, 54-to-41, among likely voters in the state. Biden’s slimmest lead among recent public polling was from Trafalgar Group that shows Biden leading Trump by just over 2 points, 47.4%-to-45.1%, among likely voters in the state.

This latest poll is more in-line with two other GOP leaning polls that were released in late September. A poll commissioned by Restoration PAC, a conservative super PAC, conducted by Trafalgar Group, showed Biden leading by just over 2 points, 48.1%-to-45.9%, with likely voters in the state. A Federalist/TIPP poll of likely voters has Biden leading Trump by 5 points, 49-to-44.

The Real Clear Politics Average shows Biden besting Trump by 5.6 points in Pennsylvania.

This overall poll, surveying 400 likely Pennsylvania voters, collected data between Oct. 12-13, has a margin of error of +/-4.9%.

  1. This poll is very bad for Fitzpatrick in Bucks County. Suburban women are coming out in larger numbers with early voting and the Trump early voting is being muted by Trump telling people not to vote till Election Day. It’s unlikely that Election Day will make up for the votes Trump took away from himself by being anti early voting. Also, the polls are saying down ballot R’s are in trouble on Election Day.

  2. Trump is the most despicable person to ever hold office of President. Trump disgraces the office.
