CNN Keeps 2022 PA Senate Seat As Most Likely To Flip in Latest Ratings

As candidate fields continue to grow for the 2022 U.S. Senate races throughout the country, Pennsylvania remains as the seat most likely to flip parties, according to this national outlet.

According to CNN, Pennsylvania is still ranked as the Senate seat that is most likely to flip partisan control in the 2022 election in it’s latest Top 10 rankings released on April 21. Pennsylvania debuted as the most likely seat to flip by CNN in its inaugural rankings released on March 3.

The analysis from CNN’s Simone Pathe pointed to Pennsylvania’s race being an open seat in 2022, coupled with Joe Biden’s victory in the state as the reason it remains atop the most likely to flip list.

Pathe also cites the Q1 fundraising data and growing field in the article.

Starting with the Democratic side, Pathe writes that Lt. Gov. John Fetterman’s campaign raising nearly $4 million is “an impressive haul for the first three months of the off-year,” but adds that he “is still going to have competition” for the Democratic nomination. State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta’s nearly $375,000 raised in Q1 is mentioned in the article, plus the Philadelphia Democrat receiving the endorsement of Braddock’s current mayor, Chardaé Jones.

Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh, who formally launched her campaign earlier this month, is mentioned in the article, as well as state Sen. Sharif Street (D-Philadelphia), who launched an exploratory committee

Other potential Democratic candidates mentioned in the article include Reps. Madeleine Dean (D-Montgomery), Chrissy Houlahan (D-Chester), and Conor Lamb (D-Allegheny).

“While Democrats may be contending with a messy primary, they see the wide interest in the seat as a sign of the opportunity to flip it,” Pathe writes.

The lone GOP candidate mentioned by name in the CNN analysis is Jeff Bartos, a Montgomery County real estate developer and former Lt. Governor candidate, who raised just under $800,000 and loaned his campaign $400,000 since entering the race.

Pathe mentions that current and former members of the congressional delegation could join the race, as well as “several former Trump officials.”

In addition to CNN, other national ratings outlets place Pennsylvania’s Senate race in a category that indicates the seat is up for grabs in 2022.

Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball rated Pennsylvania’s Senate race in 2022 as the lone Toss Up of the cycle in its initial ratings, the Cook Political Report listed Pennsylvania’s race as one of two states that are considered to be Toss Ups, and Inside Elections describes labels the Keystone State as a “Battleground” for the 2022 Senate race.

  1. Guess you never filled out the application for a mail in ballot. They need your driver license # and the last 4 digits of your SS#. How stupid do you think people are? The Governor will not stop the vote – he’s not Trump! Whoever you are Petra – you don’t know much about anything.

  2. Sure they will have it. The Gov will stop the vote count until enough of the phony mail ins come in.

Our democracy is in serious trouble. Fraud reigns. And you can thank the R’s for going along with mail in ballots. No one checks to see who fills out the ballots!

    1. No evidence to support your claim. None. Stop with the horse manure and study facts. It’s not hard.

    1. Says the “National SOCIALIST Workers Party”. Scary. Close public Schools. Defund police. Ramped violence in Socialist-Democrat run inner cities of Philly and Pittsburgh.
Do we need more of that? NO!!!!!
