Cunningham Opts Out of a Run for PA-15

Don-Cunningham-headshotFormer Lehigh county Executive and current President & CEO of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation Don Cunningham told PoliticsPA he will not be running in the open 15th Congressional district next year.

“I enjoy what I am doing right now.  My decision is there is no decision to make.  I am staying where I am,” Cunningham told PoliticsPA.

“I feel like I have more of a direct impact on the economic development of the Lehigh Valley in this job than as one of 435 in the House.”

Cunningham thinks the election itself will be interesting to observe though.

“So much is open about what defines each party in the region.  The Lehigh Valley is traditionally a moderate area,” Cunningham said.

Greg Edwards and Bill Leiner have already declared for the race.  Former Democratic Party Chair T.J. Rooney, Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli, Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan, and Bethlehem City Councilman Willie Reynolds are also rumored to be considering bids.
