In light of proposed education- and arts-budget cuts, it seems that no one is singing the Pittsburgh Opera’s praises in its decision to present Gov. Tom Corbett with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
It’s official: Keith Rothfus is a top tier candidate. The National Republican Congressional Committee Thursday promoted the Allegheny County attorney to its Young Guns program in his challenge to Rep. Mark Critz.
Good morning politicos, here’s the buzz. The state senate made news this week, as did a former member, a soon-to-be former member, and a prospective future member. A bipartisan budget passed, an environmental group is paying for ads in PA, and the Republican candidate is on TV for Jane Earll’s seat.
Environmentalists are continuing their PR effort to combat the EPA’s bad rap. Pennsylvania will be part of a seven-figure ad buy touting the economic benefits of clean air standards.
Pres. Obama established Wednesday his support for gay marriage during an ABC News interview, after being prodded by Gov. Rendell on MSNBC News that the president should take a firm stance on the issue. The announcement came after yesterday’s vote to ban gay marriage in North Carolina.
Thanks to better-than-anticipated revenues the Pa. Senate passed a Fiscal Year 2012-2013 budget with total spending 2 percent higher than Gov. Tom Corbett proposed, restoring some education and social services funding.
The PA Republican Party Wednesday criticized Obama for America, the President’s campaign organization, on opening an office in York. But the release was a tad late – this will be the twenty-third Obama field office in Pennsylvania.
The campaign to replace retiring Senator Jane Earll (R-Erie) will be the top state senate race in Pennsylvania in 2012. Republican Janet Anderson is already on television with a 30 second bio spot.
