Dean Selected as One of Nine Impeachment Managers

A Pennsylvania Democrat will serve as an impeachment manager in the trial of President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday night, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Montgomery) will be one of the nine impeachment managers that will present the case for the president’s impeachment and removal from office.

Dean, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, sent a tweet on Tuesday night saying that she is honored to serve in this role.

“I am honored to serve as an impeachment manager among my esteemed colleagues — it is for the sake of our country, not hate of one man or anyone, but for the love of our country and constitution,” Dean wrote.

“Never would I have thought that I would be sitting on the House floor when domestic terrorists surrounded the chambers — motivated and infected by dangerous lies — seeking to assassinate a Speaker, hang a Vice President, and hunt down members of Congress, staff, and reporters,” Dean continued in a thread of tweets. “The case is clear: it is our solemn duty to impeach Donald J. Trump. This tragedy must have consequences.”

Dean was the first Pennsylvania Democrat following the riots in Washington D.C. to send a tweet urging Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. She also added that she supported impeachment if the 25th Amendment wasn’t invoked.

On Tuesday night, the House approved a resolution by a 223-to-205 vote calling on Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation split down the middle – 9 Democrats voting to approve this resolution, while the 9 Republicans voted no.

Although that resolution passed the House, Pence said he will not invoke the 25th Amendment

The vote on impeachment is slated to take place today.

  1. What a farce the impeachment is. Perfect for the liberal sheep of Montco. Excited that these sort of actions lead to a ZERO chance of bipartisanship in the Biden era — hope the Rs destroy him

  2. I am impressed by Rep Dean. Maybe she should run for US Senate. I’d vote for her.
