DelCo Times: Lentz-Meehan in dead heat in 7th

With just three weeks left, Lentz’s momentum continues to surge

Springfield, PA – Today, a poll released from the Washington D.C. based publication, The Hill, shows that Democrat Bryan Lentz has closed Republican Pat Meehan’s lead in the polls, continuing a dramatic surge in support for Lentz in Pennsylvania’s 7th District.

“It’s clear that the voters in the 7th district are looking for a candidate who’s right on the issues and willing and able to discuss them in public, instead of hiding behind attack ads from big money, out of state interest groups,” said Lentz campaign spokesman Sean Coit.  “This poll just confirms what our polling and previous polls have already shown – Bryan Lentz has all the momentum in this race.”

Lentz has continued to charge ahead in the polls despite hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on attack ads by the Chamber of Commerce, American for Job Security, and several other right wing, special interest groups.  With more than $1 million invested from those groups and the NRCC, recent polls have only shown Lentz’s numbers improve and Meehan’s lead disappear.

While Lentz has orchestrated a massive grassroots campaign, touring 25 local businesses, visiting train stations each morning, and hosting public town halls, Meehan has backed out of debates, cancelled public appearances with Lentz, and quietly received endorsements from far-right conservative groups and the Tea Party.
