Dent Joins CNN

Former Congressman Charlie Dent (R-Lehigh) announced his next job following his exit from Congress.

According to The Hill Dent will be joining CNN as a contributor.

Dent will make his first appearance on CNN tonight on the “Erin Burnett Outfront” show.

Dent resigned from Congress on May 11th.

“CNN has amped up its political coverage since President Trump took office, adding several contributors from both sides of the aisle and from government law enforcement agencies, including: former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.); former Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.); former Obama State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki; former Hillary Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook; former Trump aide Jason Miller; former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper; former FBI agents Asha Rangappa and James Gagliano; and former FBI and CIA senior official Phil Mudd,” The Hill reported.

  1. Charlie Dent has always been a reasonable voice and will add critical analysis to CNN’s political news team.

    1. His input will probably, sadly, mesh with the rest of the cacophony of Trump-bashers on CNN.

      1. Cacophony of Trump bashers? The man lies, says outrageous things, surrounds himself with sycophants and corrupt people and reporting on it is wrong? Do you hear yourself?

  2. I’m glad he left, for that’s one fewer anti-Trump Congressional-RINOs about whom to be worried.

  3. It’s unfortunate that the only Republicans in Congress with a spine to stand up to the tyrant madman in the WH are mostly all resigning.

  4. Regardless of your feelings about his politics you have to admit Charlie always did what he thought was best for the people of his district. In this day, that is a very admirable trait. I think it’s hard to talk down about someone’s career decision, although I do understand the point some have made about him leaving early. In the end, every one of us has to do whats best for ourselves and our family, and you surely can’t fault him for that. Wish him all the luck possible in future endeavors.

    1. That he’s working for CNN so quickly is “telling,” and he will probably join Navarro in the chorus of predictable faux-Republican Trump-bashers.

  5. Nice guy … now having placed himself out-to-pasture; hoping he doesn’t think he can re-enter politics within the Trumpian-GOP.

    1. Note that he is in good-company [including chronic-egotist/sanctimonious and big-spender/big-loser Santorum]; it isn’t surprising that CNN has not hired [indeed has fired] advocates of The Donald.

    2. The only way into the Trumpian-GOP is rectally.

(That passageway is already at capacity, but you booked your trip early, and managed to squeeze in.)

      1. The Trumpian-GOP is dominant; resistance fails, as reflected in latest generic ballot c/o reuters that gives GOP a 6-point edge … confounding the “experts” [again].

  6. One of the most admirable and level-headed elected officials to ever hold office. We will miss you Congressman Dent!

      1. Robert your petty comments on here say more about you then they do about the Congressman. He’s served his community honorably – you’re just being petulant.

  7. Thanks for your decades of public service. Well deserved post elected office career

    1. And now he thumbs his nose at the voters who re-elected him by not serving out his term

      1. I agree with jjcnpa. He abandoned the voters. So, I will never watch CNN or him on CNN.

        1. He served 27 years as a public servant 24/7. He will be missed for sure but he deserves the next steps in his career.

  8. So glad he’s no longer in Congress. Now at least it will be a pleasure to turn him off whenever he’s on tv.

  9. Dent will certainly fit in with the Clinton News Network, as he never was a Republican. Rather, he was a true blue democrat.

  10. Good luck! If you watch enough of these cable news shows you realize everybody has their “tag”…the liberal, the conservative..the Republican who is anti-trump…the “Feel the Bern” progressive..etc…I am sure Charlie Dent will find his way. Again, good luck!

    1. An opportunist always finds their way! It’s always been about what’s best for Charlie!

      1. Great Point. He belongs on CNN. The least watched cable news network. I doubt his presence is going to do anything to boost their sagging ratings. I guess CNN is going to call his show: “Get Dent”.
