DePasquale Cancels Campaign Event for ‘Game of Thrones’ Premiere

State Rep. Eugene DePasquale (D-York) cancelled his keynote address at the Lycoming County Democrats dinner Sunday night, citing a scheduling conflict.

However, a source close to the Auditor General hopeful indicate another reason for the change: the second season premiere of the HBO series ‘Game of Thrones.’

“We booked Eugene months ago, before the network chose its official launch date,” the source confirmed. “When he found out it was the same day, there was no hesitation to cancel the event.”

It’s not the first time the issue has affected his work. Indeed, the source said DePasquale’s push for a ban on texting while driving during season 1 last year was part of an effort to avoid spoilers about the show.

DePasquale catches up on the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series in preparation for summer 2011's release of 'A Dance with Dragons.'

    LOLOLOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

  2. From personal experience in NEPA (Luzerne), I’ve heard politicos from both sides of the aisle make similar statements. One, a Democrat on our executive committee, stated to me once in an email last year: “I can’t make that meeting. I can do an hour earlier or an hour later. True Blood is on tonight. I know it’s GOTV, but I don’t miss True Blood for anything. People get pissed off if you phonebank them on Sunday nights, anyway.”

I can’t fault him for this. I was watching it, too.
