Do PA GOP Congressmen Support Republican Plans to Axe Ethics Office?

Harrisburg, PA – Recent reports from ABC News reveal plans by Republican Congressional leadership to axe the independent, nonpartisan Office of Congressional Ethics. The office oversees ethical investigations into members of Congress.

“Congressional Republicans are already looking for ways to weaken ethics rules and enforcement,” said Mark Nicastre a spokesman with the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. “Republicans are abandoning their promises to increase transparency and accountability, and they are making sure that they are not held accountable in Congress. Do Pennsylvania Republicans support their leaders’ plans to axe the Office of Congressional Ethics?”

“There’s one Pennsylvania Republican who is breathing a sigh of relief at his leadership’s plan to axe the Office of Congressional Ethics: Tom Marino. With his long history of unethical behavior, Tom Marino must be pretty excited that Republicans are trying to do away with the Office of Congressional Ethics.”
