Kevin Dougherty, the Philadelphia Court of Commons Judge and Democratic nominee for PA Supreme Court, received another influential labor supporter today.
AFSCME Council 13, which represents state, county and municipal employees throughout the commonwealth of Pennsylvania endorsed Dougherty’s candidacy.
“We believe he brings a level of fairness and depth of experience that would greatly benefit the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for years to come,” the union said of Dougherty.
“I was born and raised in a union household, therefore I know firsthand of the incredibly important role unions play in protecting our nation’s middle class and affording millions of men and women the opportunity to earn family-sustaining wages and fair benefits,” Judge Dougherty responded. “I am honored by AFSCME Council 13’s unanimous endorsement of my State Supreme Court candidacy and its more than 65,000 statewide members for their support.”
Judge Dougherty has a surplus of union backing. He won the support of the PSEA in July and his brother John is generally considered the most powerful labor leader in Philadelphia.
Dougherty is running for one of three open seats on the PA Supreme Court this November.

Dougherty just continues to try and buy his way onto the Supreme Court. I hope the people truly see him for what he is. He has no business being on the Court.
@ Frank I met Kevin Dougherty 12 years ago. Since then I’ve seen or spoke to him 50 times. He’s not as illiterate as his Union Goon brother but he has no business being in contention for the Highest Court in PA. But for his political terrorist brother buying his election with union dues from his Local he would never be on the ballot. SAVE IT! You know I’m right.
