FBI Broadens Allentown Investigation

fbi_logo_twitterFBI agents investigating the contracting practices of the city of Allentown and its mayor have expanded their search to include eight more individuals and businesses.

Allentown city employees received an email from Solicitor Susan Ellis Wild informing them to save all electronic communications and documents from their dealings with the eight – which include several leading development companies and the leader of the area’s Chamber of Commerce – according to Emily Opilo and Scott Kraus of the Morning Call.

Federal agents are hoping to collect emails, correspondence, memos and notes between city officials and these individuals and business:

  • Tony Iannelli – President & CEO, Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce
  • BSI Corporate Benefits
  • Anthony D’Are – Executive, BSI Corporate Benefits
  • Jeff Trainer – Developer
  • Blackford Development
  • Richard Welkowitz – President & CEO, Blackford Development
  • Parkway Corp.
  • Joseph Zuritsky – Executive, Parkway Corp.

They have not been charged with any crime.

Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski suspended his campaign for U.S. Senate after the FBI raided City Hall looking for evidence of “pay for play” contracting practices – days after finding his campaign manager wearing a wire for the FBI.

Pawlowski has yet to be charged with any crime.
