The NRCC announced their initial PA targets for the 2022 cycle. Here is the Playbook. 

NRCC Places Cartwright, Lamb, and Wild On Initial 2022 Target List: All three Democrats, who were targeted by the NRCC during the 2020 cycle, won reelection by less than 5 points in their most recent races.

Former State Sen. Stewart Greenleaf dies at 81: For state Sen. Stewart Greenleaf (R-Montgomery) has died at the age of 81. He “earned wide respect from GOP and Democratic lawmakers,” PennLive reports, while also specifically citing his “evolution into a champion for criminal justice reform.” 

State Rep. Tarah Toohil Tests Positive for COVID-19: State Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) announced on Wednesday that she tested positive for COVID-19 and is in quarantine, the Times Leader reports. 

Dean’s Son Tweet Sparks Senate Speculation: Pat Cunnane, son of Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Montgomery), sent out a tweet on Wednesday saying that Dean, who is serving as an impeachment manager in the trial of former President Donald Trump, “seems comfortable in the Senate.” Dean has not announced a run for Senate in 2022, although Roll Call reported in January that she has been mentioned as a “potential candidate.” 

Two Unions Representing Essential Workers Endorse Peduto for Mayor: According to a release from Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto’s campaign, United Food and Commercial Workers Local #1776, and Fraternal Association of Professional Paramedics Local #1 have endorsed Peduto’s reelection bid. 

Ziccarelli Announces Bid For Westmoreland DA: Nicole Ziccarelli, who was the GOP nominee for the 45th state Senate District in 2020, announced that she is running for Westmoreland County District Attorney, the Post-Gazette reports.

  1. NRCC is using a fundraising strategy with these targets. It helps raise dollars if you have someone to run against. It’s way too early (the terms for those who won in Nov just started for God sake) so how the landscape will look a year from now is anyone’s guess.
