Former CIA Officer Enters Republican Race for PA-15

Former CIA officer and Trump delegate to the RNC last year Scott Uehlinger announced he is running to replace retiring Congressman Charlie Dent (R-Lehigh) next year.

“I feel called to serve my country again in the face of corruption and inaction in the government. I see the people who want to fill that spot and I feel I can do a better job,” Uehlinger told the Reading Eagle.

While serving in the CIA Uehlinger worked in the former Soviet Union in Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Moldova.  He was elected out of the 15th district to be a delegate at the RNC in Cleveland last year.

“In this dangerous world, I feel compelled to serve and lend my expertise in national security to my district and the United States,” Uehlinger said.

Uehlinger is the fourth Republican in the race, joining state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh), Lehigh county Commissioner Marty Nothstein, and Dauphin county Commissioner Mike Pries in the race.

  1. Anybody but MacKenzie. Marty is the favorite heading into the new year. Scott did fare very well in the delegate race for Trump. Way better than MacKenzie.
